A bold, resort-style garden in Strowan has won Onlandscapes’ Watford Street project the People’s Choice Premier Award for 2025

The design, by Botanic Landscape Architects a nd delivered under extreme time pressure into a family-ready oasis.

Working around tight access, underground services, established trees and an existing earthquake-damaged pool, the Onlandscapes team executed a multi-layered brief that included an outdoor kitchen, a custom fire unit, pergolas, a golf putting green and a full tropical planting scheme. The scale of coordination was immense.

"At some points points, we had up to 30 people on site each day,” said Onlandscapes director Ollie Newman. “Timing was everything – subcontractors were locked in early, traffic management was in place and every detail was mapped to meet the deadline.”

Despite budget constraints and a series of design changes, the result is a luxurious, durable and vibrant outdoor living space.

“Their service was second to none,” said the homeowners. “It’s clear they take great pride in what they do – and it truly shows in the final result.”
